A PATHWAY FOR GROWTH

Learn the habits behind every steady shot.

Junior Olympic Archery Development, or JOAD, is a USA Archery program that supports safe, enjoyable learning, friendships, and personal growth. The national program allows year-round archery indoors and outdoors, with room for recreational archers and those working toward competition.

Our JOAD programming is led by Hidden Gems Archery, an official USA Archery club. Range safety and proper shooting technique go hand in hand with focus, self-confidence, and teamwork.

National JOAD disciplines include barebow, basic compound, fixed pins, recurve, and compound. As skills and goals develop, archers can explore local, state, regional, or national competition. Advanced pathways such as USA Archery's Regional Elite Program have their own requirements.

More ways to grow.

RECOGNIZE PERSONAL PROGRESS

Earn achievement awards.

USA Archery's JOAD Achievement Award Program gives archers scoring goals to work toward and recognizes their progress with awards such as Star Pins. Every archer begins at the first level and works through the goals at their own pace.

A NATIONAL CHALLENGE

Explore virtual tournaments.

USA Archery's official Virtual Tournament lets eligible archers compare their scores with archers across the country while shooting at their own club range. This is separate from Hidden Gems' own shortened-distance virtual competitions.

BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL

Keep archery in your life.

College students can explore varsity teams, club sports, or campus archery organizations; some offer scholarships. Adult community programs offer another way to keep learning—archery is a lifetime sport.

QUESTIONS, WELCOME

A clear next step starts with a question.

Where will JOAD take place?+

Our JOAD programming can take place at different locations, rather than being tied to a single venue. The confirmed location will be included with each opportunity's details.

When does the program meet?+

Schedules will be shared for each confirmed session or opportunity. We're not announcing a permanent weekly day or time here.

Who can participate?+

USA Archery's national JOAD program welcomes youth as young as 8. Hidden Gems age, grade, experience, and location requirements are listed with each opportunity; confirm the details for the program you're interested in.

Does every archer have to compete?+

No. JOAD supports recreational learning as well as a pathway toward competition. Each archer can work on personal goals and progress at their own pace. Individual Hidden Gems offerings may have specific readiness or participation requirements.

Does joining this list complete registration?+

No. It records adult contact information and permission for our team to follow up. Participant enrollment and participation permissions will be handled separately.

Can our school or community host a JOAD opportunity?+

We'd like to hear from schools and community organizations interested in bringing archery opportunities to young people. Share your organization and interest through the form; our team can discuss possibilities without a commitment to a particular venue or date.
