JOAD at BAMM
Venue: Bronx Academy for Multi-Media gymnasium, 730 Bryant Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474
Various Saturdays · BAMM students 1:30–2:30 PM · Community hour 2:30–3:30 PM
A free Saturday archery league led by Hidden Gems Archery, a USA Archery club.

WHO IT'S FOR
Participation details
The beginner hour is reserved for BAMM students. The JOAD progression hour at 2:30 PM is open to the community—archers in grade 3 and up, from any school or neighborhood, are welcome to sign up. This is a DYCD program, so every participant completes a DYCD application before their first session.
HOW SATURDAYS WOULD WORK
Two groups. One path forward.
BAMM beginner hour: A free, one-hour group for BAMM students. No previous archery experience is needed. Students start close to the target and learn safe range habits, shooting technique, and basic scoring.
JOAD progression hour: A separate free hour, open to the community for archers in grade 3 and up who are ready for the next stage. BAMM students move up when coaches see safe, consistent skills, understanding of the range and scoring, and willingness to keep learning—not after a fixed number of sessions. Community archers sign up on this page and complete the DYCD application before the first session.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Coaching, equipment, and progress.
Hidden Gems plans to supply appropriately sized bows, arrows, armguards, finger protection, and learning materials. Students do not need to bring their own archery equipment.
Regular practice includes technique coaching, scored rounds, and team activities. Scorecards and an archer's logbook help students track their own improvement. Shooting distance increases only as skills, control, and the available range allow.
A SUPPORTED FIRST STEP
Orientation and family connection.
After you sign up, a family joins a short virtual orientation covering JOAD, the calendar, attendance commitment, materials, competition pathways, and scoring days.
Families are welcome to watch, especially on scoring days. Supervision, sign-in, and dismissal arrangements will be confirmed before participation.
CONSISTENCY HELPS SKILLS GROW
Small groups. A steady commitment.
Small groups and limited places are planned so students receive individual coaching attention. A waitlist is used when the reserved BAMM beginner hour is full.
Families commit for the school term and let the team know about absences. Three consecutive absences without contact moves an archer to the waitlist.
POSSIBILITIES, NOT PROMISES
Competition when they're ready.
As skills develop, students may prepare for Hidden Gems competitions, the Future Archery Pro Tournament, or qualifying USA Archery opportunities. League participation does not guarantee entry to any competition.
The league hours are free. Official competition membership or entry may have separate requirements and costs; any sponsorship depends on eligibility, roster limits, and available funding.
